Dog Tag Due Date Extension January 21, 2026
The Ottawa County Sheriff Office along with the Ottawa County Auditor are happy to announce an extension to the cutoff date to purchase your 2026 dog tag. As the initial deadline is approaching, January 31, 2026, the Dog Warden and Auditor feel it is important to allow residents an extension of time to secure a license without penalty. The deadline is being extended to February 28, 2026. The Dog Warden and Auditor are aware of the complications some residents are facing with the new DocuPet system and are wanting to give ample amount of time for all residents to acquire their dog tag.
How to Purchase or Renew:
Online: You may purchase online by visiting the Auditor’s office website and using the online portal or by visiting https://ottawacounty.docupet.com/en_US/
In Person: Dog tags can be purchased at the Ottawa County Auditor’s office or Ottawa County Dog Warden’s office.
By Mail: You can mail the necessary information and payment to the Ottawa County Auditor’s office or to DocuPet.
Any questions regarding dog tags can be answered by the Ottawa County Auditor’s office or the Ottawa County Dog Warden’s Office.
Dog Tag Vendor Change 2026 Ottawa County will now be using DocuPet to process and track all Dogs. Dog owner's must now register and pay online through DocuPet. Assistance will be available at the Ottawa County Auditor's Office. All dog tags will be mailed to the owner regardless of where they are purchased. DTE Form Requirements In an attempt to reduce fraud, the Ottawa County Auditor’s office will now be requiring the phone number sections of the DTE 100 and DTE 100ex be completed fully with the new owner’s phone number when filing documents for property transfers. To read the full memo click below
